Flourish screens on International Women's Day
Today our film Flourish was screened on the big screen on Millennium Square in Bristol as part of the Shextreme Film Festival honouring the International Women's Day programme.
International Women's Day
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Flourish is a portrait of Charlene Lim. Charlene grew up a shy child and teenager. Her lack of confidence prevented her from discovering her interest in sport. In her early twenties, however, she went through what she called a second teenagehood – a confusing time both mentally and physically. She started thinking about the future. Exactly who and how would she become? That’s when she found yoga.
Her dedication to Ashtanga yoga manifested itself both physically and mentally; a flourishing of both body and mind. Her confidence was greatly improved and she suddenly found herself capable of things she had previously thought impossible.
Charlene now runs her own yoga school Trika Yoga in Bristol. She also finds time for rock climbing, cycling, swimming and snow sports.
