Vision Bristol 2011

The highlights were Harry Pearce, Graphic Designer and Partner at Pentagram on “The Search for Creative Equilibrium”, Dan Southern's sessions (Consultant at Contagious Communications), Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman of Ogilvy Group UK on Behavioural Economics and Dave Trott's closing keynote “Why 89% of advertising doesn't work”.

Liz at Vision

Our very own Pixillion associate Liz Brewer did a workshop with Graeme Fearon on “The weird and not so wonderful world of pitching”, covering advice on how you can protect your ideas when it comes to pitching, legal and practical tips, why there's no silver bullet to winning a pitch every time and, surely, isn't it time we just say 'No!' to doing free pitch designs?

The members of the Bristol Creative Directors Network were treated to a private lecture by Rory Sutherland at the end of the second day at 3Sixty's offices, which was a fantastic high note to end on.

Vision 2011

My PechaKucha

At the end of the first day I was one of 8 people delivering a PechaKucha. "Pecha Kucha (ペチャクチャ) was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive global celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”, it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace."

Steep hill

My 20 slides were about sustainable transport (cycling basically) and The Work Cycle case study. I can't remember any of it but apparently it went alright :)

Wishful thinking

Anyway, can't wait to see what Vision 2012 will bring.

The South West's biggest creative conference, Vision 2011, took place on November 23 and 24 at the Arnolfini in Bristol, offering a wealth of thought provoking, insightful and motivational talks. As with Vision 2010, my head was still brimming with ideas days after.
